Fire reveals true value of a good plumber
February 8, 2019
Arctic conditions across large parts of Canada have led to a spate of frozen and burst pipes that have resulted in a large number of emergency calls to plumbers.
The value of a professional tradesperson who knows what they are doing was brought into focus after one DIYer’s attempt to unfreeze their pipes went dramatically wrong, resulting in a call to firefighters rather than the local plumber.
Firefighters in Windsor, Ont., tackled a blaze on February 4 after someone accidentally set the house alight while trying to unfreeze pipes with a blowtorch. Nobody was injured, but the resulting damage has been estimated at $150,000 – many times the cost of calling out a qualified tradesperson.
